Peter Mingils and Scott Johnson Examine Anti-MLM Content Creators, Network Marketing Criticism and Social Media Influence

Are anti-MLM YouTube content creators providing balanced information about multilevel marketing, or are personal biases influencing how they present network marketing companies and distributors?

On this compelling episode of Building Fortunes Radio, Peter Mingils welcomes distinguished host Scott Johnson, author of Stop The Amway Tool Scam, who invites special guest Jarrod Wilkins, a Purium distributor, to discuss anti-MLM YouTube personalities, controversial online debates and the changing direct selling industry.

Their conversation examines how social media commentary influences public opinion, why disagreements become personal and whether some content creators selectively present information to reinforce negative perceptions of MLM companies.

Purium Distributor Jarrod Wilkins Challenges Anti-MLM YouTube Creators

Jarrod Wilkins shares his experiences interacting with anti-MLM commentators, including Marco Moukhaiber, widely recognized by his YouTube identity, Always Marco.

Jarrod questions whether some online debates are designed to encourage meaningful discussion or generate confrontational content that attracts views, subscribers and social media engagement.

He expresses concerns about selective editing, debate framing and the way opposing positions may be portrayed to audiences.

While MLM critics raise legitimate questions about recruitment, compensation plans, income disclosures and consumer protection, Jarrod believes distributors deserve opportunities to explain their perspectives without being unfairly characterized.

Peter Mingils and Scott Johnson explore the importance of distinguishing facts, opinions and allegations when evaluating controversial business opportunities.

Always Marco Moukhaiber and Lawsuits Involving IM Academy, Primerica and Market America

An important part of the broader anti-MLM discussion involves the legal challenges faced by Marco Moukhaiber, also known as Always Marco.

Moukhaiber has been named as a defendant in lawsuits involving at least three separate multilevel marketing companies: IM Academy, Primerica and Market America.

The publicly documented litigation includes:

  • IM Academy: Legal proceedings involving IM Academy and Marco Moukhaiber were documented in 2021.
  • Primerica: A lawsuit filed in Alberta, Canada, in 2023 involved allegations concerning Moukhaiber’s online commentary, intellectual property and statements about Primerica.
  • Market America: Litigation filed in North Carolina in 2023 involved Moukhaiber’s criticism of Market America and its business practices, followed by additional court proceedings and appellate activity.

These cases raise questions about the boundaries between freedom of expression, corporate reputation, criticism, defamation claims and legal accountability.

Importantly, being sued does not establish wrongdoing, and the existence of litigation does not automatically validate or invalidate an anti-MLM creator’s criticism.

Purium Changes From MLM to Affiliate Marketing in November 2026

Another major subject is Purium’s reported November 2026 transition from a traditional MLM compensation structure to an affiliate marketing program.

Jarrod discusses how this change could affect distributor relationships, product sales, recruiting incentives and customer acquisition.

Affiliate marketing generally emphasizes commissions from personally generated sales or referrals, while traditional MLM structures may compensate participants through multiple distributor levels.

The conversation considers whether changing compensation models will influence how anti-MLM critics evaluate companies like Purium.

Verification note: I found case listings identifying all three companies, including a Primerica court filing and a Market America case number. [BonkNote]+2

I have not independently verified the final disposition of all three cases, so the article does not claim that Moukhaiber lost all three lawsuits.

For publication, a useful next step would be to link the individual court records in the litigation section, particularly if you want the article to serve as a reference for future Building Fortunes Radio episodes.

The Amway tools scam is a hidden profit scheme within the Amway multi-level marketing (MLM) structure that exploits distributors, often leaving them with financial losses instead of the promised wealth. Amway, a well-known MLM company, markets health, beauty, and home products through independent business owners (IBOs). While the company emphasizes product sales, the real money for top-tier distributors, often at the Diamond level or above, comes from selling motivational “tools” like books, tapes, seminars, and rallies, not from product sales. These tools, promoted as essential for success, create a separate revenue stream that disproportionately benefits upline leaders while draining the profits of lower-level distributors.

Distributors are pressured to purchase these overpriced tools, often costing hundreds or thousands annually, with promises of learning the secrets to building a lucrative Amway business. However, studies and lawsuits reveal that 99% of Amway distributors lose money, with average earnings below $100 monthly after expenses. The tools business, controlled by high-ranking distributors like Dexter Yager, generates millions for the elite, who earn significant markups on items like cassette tapes sold at rallies for up to $10,000 a night in cash. Meanwhile, new recruits face high startup costs—starter kits, training sessions, and product samples, further eroding their profits. This creates a pyramid-like structure where uplines profit from downlines’ purchases, not retail sales, resembling an illegal scheme.
